Below you will find the 2025 FNEGE ranking of 101 General Management journals. This list is part of the FNEGE Journal Quality List, produced by the Fondation Nationale pour l’Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises, and is based on a dual-committee methodology that combines quantitative metrics with qualitative expert judgement.
The full methodology was detailed in the previous post.
Rankings for other sub‑fields—including Education, Health Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Logistics, Public Management, Sectoral Studies, and Strategy—will be published in separate posts over the coming months.
One hundred and one journals classified by the French Fondation Nationale pour l’Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises as General Management titles in 2025.
Part of the FNEGE Journal Quality List, the full national journal-rating framework used across French business schools and universities. Only General Management is covered here; other subfields are published separately.
Dual-committee methodology. Each title is rated through a combination of quantitative bibliometric metrics and qualitative expert judgement by discipline committees.
— FNEGE
How to read the table: sort by the FNEGE rating to see the distribution, or search for a specific journal. The rating column carries the 2025 classification — 1* is the highest tier, EM marks emerging titles. Publisher and both ISSNs (print and electronic) are included for disambiguation, since journal titles can repeat across fields or across time.
The full methodology behind the figures — the dual-committee process, the weighting of bibliometric indicators and the expert-review step — was detailed in the previous post.
1* is the top tier, followed by 1, 2, 3, 4, and EM for emerging journals. The scale is ordinal: each step marks a lower FNEGE classification, but the underlying criteria combine bibliometric indicators and committee judgement rather than a single score.
Distribution in this list. Of the 101 General Management titles, five sit at 1*, five at 1, sixteen at 2, twenty-one at 3, fifty-three at 4, and one at EM. The bulk of the field sits in tiers 3 and 4.
Not a ranking. Journals within the same tier are not ordered against each other by FNEGE. Alphabetical order is used here only as a tiebreaker.
The top two tiers. Journals here are conventionally treated as internationally leading outlets within the French evaluation framework.
10 journals in this list sit in tiers 1* and 1.
Middle tiers. Journals here are recognised as established outlets with strong reputations in their subfields.
37 journals in this list sit in tiers 2 and 3.
Entry and emerging tiers. Journals here are either recognised specialist outlets or newer titles still establishing their reputation.
54 journals in this list sit in tiers 4 and EM.
A caution: the FNEGE rating is a national framework for the French management-education sector. Comparisons with other national lists — the ABS in the UK, ABDC in Australia, VHB in the German-speaking world, or SJR internationally — will not map one-to-one. The methodology post explains how the committee process differs.
Data source. The FNEGE Journal Quality List, published by the Fondation Nationale pour l’Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises. The 2025 edition is the version reproduced here.
Dual-committee process. A quantitative committee produces bibliometric indicators; a qualitative committee reviews journals within each discipline; the final rating blends both.
Coverage. Only the General Management subfield is included in this list. FNEGE classifies journals by discipline, and each discipline is published as a separate list.
101 General Management journals, with FNEGE 2025 rating, publisher name, ISSN and eISSN for each.
The 2025 edition as published by FNEGE.
Other FNEGE disciplines — Education, Health Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Logistics, Public Management, Sectoral Studies, Strategy — which are published as separate lists.
Journal metrics such as impact factors or SJR scores, which are outside the FNEGE rating itself.
For the methodology behind the figures — including the committee process, weighting of indicators and expert-review step — see the methodology post, and the official FNEGE Journal Quality List page.
General Management is one subfield of the FNEGE Journal Quality List. Rankings for the remaining subfields will be published in separate Business Science Daily posts over the coming months.
Each instalment follows the same construction: one subfield, the same five columns (title, publisher, ISSN, eISSN, FNEGE rating) and the same search-and-filter interface.
